About Us

We are a group of former high school and collegiate players from all levels of the NCAA and NJCAA. Every year, we compete to win the division against regional powerhouse East Carolina and other successful programs. On this page you will find plenty of information about who we are and what it takes to play club baseball for us.

History

App State’s Club Baseball team was founded in 2008. In 2012, ASU won the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship and played in the World Series.

Requirements

All players must meet the following criteria:

  1. Are not on academic probation or warning
  2. Hold at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA
  3. Are currently enrolled in at least 12 undergraduate hours, enough undergraduate hours to graduate at the end of the semester, or are considered a full-time graduate student.

Schedule

We play a fall and a spring season. In the fall, we typically play one or two three-game series against nearby teams in addition to the annual Greenville Fall Tournament held at Mauldin Park in Greenville, South Carolina. The spring consists of five conference series and two or three non-conference series. Our conference opponents include ECU, Elon, NC State, UNC Chapel Hill, and UNC Wilmington.

Practice is held daily (weather permitting) from about 3:30-5:00 at the softball fields by the State Farm Parking Lot, Optimist Park, or the Ted Mackorell soccer complex. All players are welcome to practice with us so long as they have filled out paperwork required by Club Sports.

Player Fees

Players are required to pay team dues. These pay for hats, jerseys, travel expenses, umpires, field rental, equipment, and everything else needed to run a program. Typically, you can expect dues in the fall to cost around $150-$200 and in the spring to be around $200-$250. Depending on player-interest, we may or may not have tryouts. If there are no tryouts, the first 30 players to pay dues make the team.

Home Games

Historically, we have been able to use the all-turf varsity field for home games. This is not a guarantee as occasionally their home games and our home games conflict. In order to use the field, we typically have to help out by being ball boys for football or volleyball.
